I didn't realise this book is the 3rd in a series, but I'm pleased to say it reads well as a standalone.  This is my first book by this author and although it is well written it didn't quite hit the mark for me.  I flew through the first part and loved the game changing twist, but the second half was less compelling and my mind kept wandering..  I did enjoy the character of Lily and I may read The Kind Worth Killing just to meet her again.

If you like dark and twisted and morose tales this is the book for you. We follow Martha through her cursed love life from college to adulthood. We’re also following lily, her estranged friend from college as they set out on a mission to determine if Martha’s husband is truly a serial killer. So many twists and turns that did quite honestly surprise this avid reader. Good job Mr. Swanson.

3.5 stars. This is a short thriller. The overall book was entertaining. I flew through it. But it was too short. Only 255 pages. When a thriller is short you do not have character development. I wanted to know the "bad" guys history. I wanted an entire section with just his history, growing up what he did etc. But it was quickly discussed and moved passed. I don't mind 3rd person but this was kind of annoying. A woman thinks her husband is a serial killer so she contacts an old friend from college that rescued her from a bad relationship to discuss her feelings and see what she thought. I liked the first twist. I was not expecting it. Then it just went too fast for me to get invested.
