This one took me a long time to read. Maybe it was the genre (not my usual). Maybe it was that it was third in a series (I didn’t read the first two). Maybe it was that it had a lot of sexual encounters that ended in murder. It wasn’t as twisty as I had hoped and not as thrilling. I didn’t get sucked in, but there were some good dark and gritty moments that had me feeling some feels.

I liked being back in this series since the first book was one of my first favorite thrillers. I feel like this book provided a new and interesting perspective on Lily as a character especially in the way she interacts with the rest of the characters in this. This was definitely fun and kept me wanting to read but I don’t think there was any big plot twist that really got me. Overall it was good to see where the author took this series next. I would say the first book is still the best with the most interesting plot though.

I got this as a BOTM without any knowledge that it was a part of a series, and the third book at that. 🙄 had I known I wouldn’t have read it as a stand alone, and the rating would probably be different. But it is what it is I suppose.

A Talent for Murder is third book in the Henry Kimball/Lily Kintner trilogy. I really enjoyed the first book [b:The Kind Worth Killing|21936809|The Kind Worth Killing (Henry Kimball/Lily Kintner, #1)|Peter Swanson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1417981750l/21936809._SY75_.jpg|41240456] the second [b:The Kind Worth Saving|60916172|The Kind Worth Saving (Henry Kimball/Lily Kintner, #2)|Peter Swanson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1658955075l/60916172._SX50_.jpg|96084727] kind of fell flat for me.

But this one was a very pleasant surprise! I devoured this book; reading it in 24 hours. I was hooked from page one. Martha a newlywed librarian suspects she might be married to a serial killer. Martha enlists her old friend Lily for help. I loved being thrown back into the lives and work of Lily and Henry. In true Swanson fashion there was a major twist about half way through the book. It was a gripping, twisty, multilayered read. I couldn't wait to see how this one ended.
