I really liked this series but the writing often feels way over-edited, like there was a max word limit the author was being held to. It made the dialog feel clipped and unnatural and it actually made it harder for me to read. I kept having to read sentences over again to grasp what was trying to be said. This book is a satisfying end to the series.

Boring. Predictable. The first book in the series was so good! I was like "damn! Nora Roberts! You get it girl!" Year one was so well written. What the hell happened. It was a struggle to finish this. It took three attempts to make way through. There was too much jargon and far too many inspiring speeches. Year One seemed to break Nora Roberts' usual formula and I was so excited, but then she fell right back into it with this final installment. Of Blood and Bone was good in it's own way. Lots of character building and good coming of age story. And then... There was this. Damn it.

Predictable plot-more predictable characters as the books went on. What started with a bang ended okay. The book was way too vague in some spots and a little bit too easy. Fallon and Duncan are mad they have to love each other because fate and shit but once it starts it’s like, oh, well, fine, whatever. No angst, no nothing. This series had such potential and this final book just didn’t live up to it.

Great end to the trilogy!

My least favorite in the trilogy but overall good read

Loved the first one, tolerated the second and ended up skimming the last half of this one bc I just didn’t care anymore.

An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review. This did not influence my thoughts in any way.
Full disclosure… Nora Roberts is my favorite author and I believe every word she writes is gold. That being said, I loved each book in the Chronicles of The One. The way it began with a magical pandemic that ended the world and finished with a battle between light and dark. The last book, The Rise Of Magicks, was an exciting, emotional, satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. I really enjoyed the characters, both new and old and how the story unfolded. Thank you thank you thank you St. Martin’s Press!!! I’m so happy I got to read an advanced copy.

Exactly the finish to Chronicles of the One that I expected.

This final book picks up right where [b:Of Blood and Bone|37638128|Of Blood and Bone (Chronicles of The One, #2)|Nora Roberts|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1525898215l/37638128._SY75_.jpg|59225538] left off, and takes the characters and the story to the exact place promised at the outset. If you liked the first two books, you won't have any complaints here.

Overall the series is very cinematic in presentation, reading like a well-made miniseries. That means, not a ton of detail, no extra stuff, and a quick pace from start to finish. It's an entertaining read that is easy to visualize, and doesn't challenge the reader or deprive you of the expected outcomes. Honestly just the ticket for me at the moment.
