I read this after having watched the 1st five episodes of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime. It's really interesting to see how this sets up the main series.
At only four chapters, it is a quick read and escalates quickly but we get a good look at the characters and the word-building that sets a strong foundation for the main series.
This prequel volume is about Yuuta Okkotsu, a boy seemingly cursed by his dead childhood sweetheart. The curse, Rika, strikes to protect Yuuta when he is in harms way and after an incident where some bullies were harmed, Yuuta finds himself transferred to the 1st year cohort of Tokyo Jujutsu High - a training school for magicians training in the use of and destruction of curses and cursed objects. Unfortunately Yuuta's curse us particularly powerful and so enemies of the school with a hatred of humanity target him in order to gain control of the power of his curse and destroy humanity.
It feels a bit rushed with such big stakes but it's actually a great intro to what the series seems to be like. What I like is how its a dark shounen series without much unnecessary sexualisation of teenagers or fan service.

I didn’t realize there was a volume 0 until I was almost caught up with the manga. This is a really interesting volume though! I love seeing what I imagine to be the early art style/character designs. It was also cool to get more backstory on the second years at the Tokyo branch of Jujutsu Tech. Plus some more backstory on Geto was nice as well! It does make some things later in the manga a little more tragic, but still a good read!

Started with the prequel rather than the official first volume but it's still an awesome introduction! Excited to know more about these characters and maybe, simp.

This is the first manga I’ve ever read so I don’t even know if I’m rating this fairly. I liked the premise of the story but the art was too busy in some panels for me to even see what was happening and I was confused some of the time. I’ll try more manga but im not sure if it’ll be this one.
