I liked it and think it raises very interesting points, but honestly couldn't care less about the characters.

As always, PKD has amazing writing that never fails to enthrall me from start to finish. Alternative histories are fascinating; to look back on something that never happened, to see how it affected the future that we live in, it's all quite interesting to me.

This book could get hard to follow at points, with so many different points of view, so many cultural differences to take into account. But despite that, I still found it extremely interesting. The characters all seemed to go through major transformations by the end of the book (mentally at least), all experiencing some sort of mind break, or perhaps revelation, at their situation. Definitely something I want to reread to analyze and evaluate to get a better perspective on.

This is a WEIRD book that’s all over the place. The setting is amazing and chilling and very realistic. Of the interweaving narratives, some were good, some were boring, and some just flat out weird. The idea of an alternate history book within an alternate history book is too many levels of meta. There are some great quotes thrown in here, but it tries to do too much in only 260 pages.

Hard to say if it is plot or character driven, because  there's no discernable plot and the characters don't have stron  personalities either

Not bad but I disliked the 'I ching' stuff in it. It made the characters seem very superstitious.

A classic for a reason. I found the first half particularly immersive, the second half tense. Overall a great alternate reality read!
