Gideon Fyre has an obsession, and it comes in the form of a student of his, Charlotte Ash. Gideon teaches art therapy and most of his students are struggling with traumas they’ve endured. Charlotte has suffered and is very distant with other people, but she is attracted to her professor. They shouldn’t see what this is, but Gideon can’t help it, he’s entranced. They may be toxic for each other but together they can help heal each other. I can’t wait to read more of their story!!

First in a trilogy that you need to read in order. It’s an interesting story filled with trauma, triggers and obsession.

If it was longer it’d probably be a 4 but it’s sooo short. You finish right as it starts. Semi - interested in 2nd part but also mildly Annoyed that it’s been split up so I’m not looking to do it right away if I do end up revisiting.

Playing with Fyre was a great little novella to introduce us to Fyre and Charlotte. This is definitely an interesting book with some intense characters. We get a look inside of Charlotte and to see all of the stress of her life and how she and managing her trauma. We also get to meet Gideon who is intrigued by Charlotte and develops an obsession with her. Logan Fox definitely captures the intensity of these two and their complex relationship. This is story is dark, with broken characters and I am intrigued. I am definitely looking forward to see what happens in the next book.

I think if I read this in one sitting, I would understand what was happening, but I think I'm confused...

Lacking

This book could have been good, if it was longer and the author had put more time into developing the story. Instead, it felt rushed and disjointed. Disappointing because the premise was a good one.

Short and epically dark, this book is a walking talking trigger warning, glad I don't have any. This is so dark, but wow does it pack a punch. This author has a history of super dark books, and I must say I am here for it. Even though it is a novella, it has so much going on, and you don't even realize how much time has passed. For sure an in depth story that from my understanding is going to kick off a new series. Fyre is one psycho that I can hear every female ohhing over. He is twisted to the point of being uncomfortable, but why is that so good? Anyways it's told in dual pov, and I don't think this book would work any other way.
