It’s hard to review in a few words this series this far down the line, i would need to actually get into details and write the 20 pages analysis this volume deserve for its flawless sttucture, the beautiful progression of the plot and the arcs the characters take which put me through so mang emotions
I was reading this book when mu grandma passed away and on advice from my bff i put it on pause halfway
That was a good idea, cause this book made me grieve and i needed to be far away from my very real loss before i could take this fictional but also very real one
It was brutal but also so carefully done
Expanse deserves more praise than it gets and i hope it gets the recognition it deserves as time goes on

I really thought this was going to be a three star book almost throughout but when it all came together in the end I could reconcile with what I had the biggest issue with.
SpoilerAmos' death and transformation. I felt at first it was a shitty way for him to go out and then I just felt like it wasn't fair for him to be, well, whatever he is now. But I realize now that for the story to have a conclusion we need a Miller back and that's what we have in Amos now. As if he hasn't been through enough in his life...but I get it.

As much as it broke my heart, I felt like Bobbie's death was fitting and even glorious. Like a Valkyrie indeed!

One last minor thing, I do wish Avasarala had been laid to rest on Earth. But I feel at peace knowing that the two Valkyries of this saga are reunited now. ❤️

Finished so it's fresh for the new/final season of The Expanse and a little bit after the [b:Leviathan Falls|28335699|Leviathan Falls (The Expanse #9)|James S.A. Corey|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1600283641l/28335699._SY75_.jpg|48382891] release!

Outside of the Roci crew, Dr. Elvi Okoye is my favorite character, mostly because I'm also a biologist by training and I love her sense of wonder about Weird Alien Science.

I think the
SpoilerTimothy
reveal was more obvious in audiobook form (I audibly gasped and had a :D expression when that played in my car), whereas if I was reading I'd have to pick it up from context clues... really interesting to think about the ways different mediums affect the way we get a story. I've only listened to The Expanse via audiobooks so I'm not entirely sure about spelling for some of the ships and places (Bara-gown complex? nope, google tells me Bara Gaon).

Really enjoyed Teresa as a POV character, especially the way she frames her world vs. Holden etc.

Onwards to Leviathan Falls!
