I enjoyed the book, but it was darker than I expected or at least more emotional. The toxicity of Liam's family holy shit! I can see how he would have been brainwashed to fall in line or everyone would lose their inheritance, but it was frustrating. I was with Anna, NO ONE needs all that money! Liam could say no to his father, his siblings wouldn't have been out on the street, and they all had good jobs, or spouses who were also loaded.
If I'd been in that situation, Anna would have disgusted me, disgusted with the wealth and excess. Overall, it was a good book, just more emotional than I was prepared for. It harkened back to the Beautiful Bastard days but with more emotional depth. I wish we'd gotten more into Anna's past and issues as well.

This book was so hot I had to stop reading it in public!

I only have a few complaints, and a big one is the word 'Goddamn'. That word was an instant cool-down. Otherwise another great Christina Lauren romance!

Really, Christina Lauren books are always a great read, and this was no exception.

📝 The story was fun, the FMC was hilarious, the chemistry between the two MCs was great. The whole fake spouse trope can be hard to buy in to, but it felt believable, with the stakes in this story.

🌶️ I always wish Christina and Lauren's books were a little dirtier/more explicit than they actually are, but there's still spice to be had! Multiple heated, enthusiastic scenes that were well done.

🎧 The narration was great! The book is dual POV, so there were two narrators. They both did an excellent job.

🤑 I get major ick from billionaires, so I avoid books about them. But this managed to be a story mostly featuring billionaires that actually didn't gross me out! Or it did, but in the ways the authors wanted where I could still root for the MMC. I thought they dealt with the wealth issue pretty decently overall.

I rarely think that a romance novel is perfect but this one is close. The ending of the story was a bit rushed, but everything else makes up for it. I went in blind when pre-ordering the book and was so glad that I did. While the authors, Christina and Lauren were able to touch upon serious topics such as complicated family dynamics, financial struggles, and abandonment issues they were also able to flawlessly combine it with humor and witty banter. The main character, Anna, is both strong and witty while the the other main character Liam, is initially serious and could be considered a “stick in the mud” he does develop emotionally throughout the story. The chemistry and dynamics between the characters of Anna and Liam worked very well together as well. To me, this is the perfect beach/vacation read. The story made me eager to see what would happen next and I was always excited to get back to the book. I’d love to see some sort of continuation of this story especially with Liam’s brother Jake! I highly recommend!
5 stars!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A very cute vacation read, this one is perfect for summer!! In the vein of CLo’s other paradise-set fake marriage romcom, “The Unhoneymooners”.

This one was super immersive and escapist with the right elements of romcom success: great spicy scenes, likable main characters, a fun exclusive island setting. The fake dating and marriage-of-convenience trope worked well, which surprised me because usually the fake marriage trope is just so unrealistic to me but made a lot of sense for this story, and really aided the sexual tension. Anna’s personality was a little much for me at first, but I loved how she interacted with Liam and balanced him out. Liam was HOT and closed-off, not quite tall, dark, and mysterious but full of intrigue and a soft center. I really liked them together. “Pretty Woman” vibes.

The plot was fairly predictable, but my main qualm (most of the reason I give it 4 stars) was with Liam’s family. They SUCKED!!!! I understand they are filthy rich but the Westons kinda turned me off the story at times. Liam’s dad especially was awful and gave me so much secondhand rage. The rich vs. lower middle class comparison here felt very “The Menu” as far as outrageous privilege and the insane, malicious stakes of the 1%. The Weston family had no redeeming qualities to speak of.
