This story is completely absurd and totally hilarious. I really liked the illustrations in this particular book. Great read for the kiddos.

I think this is a cute little story, but rather gross. My son seems to enjoy it and I think it is awesome it comes with a CD with it.

I feel like there must be versions of this story that are easier to read. But my 5 yr old loves it and takes it very seriously. The chain of logic of the woman is a real puzzler to her.
Update: I am getting better at reading this book, and my 5 yr old is enjoying telling the book aloud while looking at the pictures. “Perhaps she’ll die” is her favorite line.

Omg . I run a book group for free-cycle books . Someone donated this classic to me lol. OMG no wonder as kids we were traumatised lol. Just read it quickly before adding into my group .

Bongasin viime viikolla Instagram-postauksesta jännän näköisen ja just hyvällä tavalla vinksahtaneen oloisen kuvakirjan vanhasta rouvasta, joka nielaisi kärpäsen, ja se oli pakko päästä lukemaan! Hyväksi onneksi tämä opus löytyi Helmet-kirjastojen kokoelmista ja saapui varauksena ilahduttamaan muuten aika väsynyttä maanantaita.
Ja siis todellakin ilahdutti! Tämä oli juuri oikealla tavalla vinksahtanut ja morbidi kuvakirja omaan makuuni. Se ei ehkä ole kaikkien lasten makuun, mutta näin aikuisena iski hyvin. Pidin paitsi itse tarinasta myös oivallisesta riimittelystä ja hyvästä rytmistä.

A little macabre to be honest - didn't remember the whole bit about death when I read it as a kid!
That being said, my 1 year old loves to listen to the book (as long as I make the animal sounds as well) and loves to play with the book itself because of the large holes.

I remember reading this when I was 5 or 6. We still have our old copy in my mom and dad's basement. Made me all nostalgic to see someone review it on GR.
