I agree with Peacelovebooks review. The first chunk was slow but the world building in the latter half was interesting. Can Kraken live above water indefinitely?

Debating on skipping right to Rhea's book and I hope Cameron gets a book!

I love a good Tiffany Roberts book and I do love their other series and stand-alone books alot. They’re at the top of my favorite authors list. But I just couldn’t get into this book. I made it 32% of the way and felt like I was forcing myself to continue.

After a tragic Macy has been terrified of the sea. But on the day of her engagement she decides to venture back out. Only to once again become a victim of the sea. But she’s saved by Jax, a kraken who decides he’s going to keep her. But the kraken have a turbulent history with humans and trust between the two is hard to come by. So they just learn from each other and in the process find everything they’ve ever wanted.

These are all tropes I love. I don’t know what it is about this particular story I didn’t like. I should have loved it. Maybe it was the slow pacing? I don’t know. But this one just wasn’t for me and I DNF’d it.

This book was cute. I Love reading these books as pallett cleansers. This was a cute love store and I love the writing style of this husband & wife writing team.

I will recommend these books to anyone who wants to dip their toes in reading monster romance

Complete Disclosure, I have actually read this once before around 2 years ago before I got into Monster Romances so this was a revisit!

Treasure of the Abyss ended up being a really enjoyable read. Tiffany Roberts has created a cool world and set some larger events into motion with the first book, which largely focused on Macy (Human Female) and Jax (Kraken Male) who meet by chance and fall in love.

My favourite parts:
- Jax is an interesting character and I enjoyed his growth over the book.
- Halora is a world that I enjoyed once I got to know it.
- Vicious plant life, ocean life and animals
- Arkon and Jax's friendship
-
SpoilerDracchus learning to trust Jax

What I think could've been improved:
- I wish the world had been explained a little better, earlier. It started with "3xx years after landing" which provided some context, but I'd have preferred a little more background information.
- The not at all subtle foreshadowing of the next pairing
Spoiler Aymee and Arkon
. I'm excited to read how it happens, but it's less exciting knowing it's going to happen.

What I didn't enjoy:
-
"Accidental" Pregnancy Trope, this is down to me being terrified (also, slightly grossed out) by pregnancy.

Wholesome as heck! Very similar vibes to Iceplanet Barbarians. The only reason it’s 3 starts is because right there at the end they throw in that pregnancy trope that I just can’t get behind. But overall a nice fun read.
