What an odd book. I found this on a list of "Comfort Reads" from some book blog or another, and I had liked the only other Greene book I'd read, The End of the Affair, so I thought I'd try this one. I don't know that I'd call it a "comfort read," although it certainly isn't heavy. It's just... odd. And very British, which is just the sort of thing I like. :)

A fun tale. I went to see it as a play in Salisbury not long afterwards

Hmmm... Didn't find this novel particularly enjoyable and I must admit the so-called humour was a bit lost on me. I persevered hoping for an interesting conclusion but was disappointed

Well this took me all over the place. I alternated between laughter, tedium, irritation, and disgust though overall I was usually amused. Aunt August was best taken in small doses so I had to pace my reading a bit. I was all for Henry broadening his horizons but maybe not as much as he did.

Delightful, quirky, unexpected – with kind of a weird ending.
