What a great book!
If you can take just 2 lessons from the book, let the following be it:
1. Pleatues are inevitable in the journey of mastery, make sure you embrace them and move forward with them.
2. Realize your homeostasis. Don't fight it alone. Let others help you in the journey of escaping homeostasis.

A book that could easily become a yearly read for reminders and inspiration. Short and direct, George Leonard lays out a guideline of success with applications to many facets of life. While most of the ideas are not revolutionary or unheard of it the book serves as a great centering piece that brings all of this advice together.
While some parts of the book haven't aged perfectly and at times sections feel almost only applicable to sports or martial arts, I would still recommend the book. Especially for anyone looking for something to help them learn or master new skills

One of those timeless classics and honestly one of the best self-help books out there. Leonards' principles of Mastery make it painstakingly obvious how lazy, unfocused and unmotivated most of us are today.

A mix of good advice and overly rigid advice. I liked what he said about the learning plateaus.

George Leonard's Mastery is a one of the most insightful and practical books which can show you how can you become a master of any field that you choose. Leonard says that mastery is not a destination but a journey. It is a not a place where you can reach and rest. The path of mastery is not easy, you are tested in every step of your path. He tells us about the stages of this journey and warns about the pitfalls that we may encounter. Some of the things mentioned in the book are well know but we never give thought to it. Leonard was a master of "Aikido,' besides being a writer. He has been on the path of achieving mastery and completed it. His wisdom is captured in this small book for anyone who is willing to read and follow him as a guide.
