This got off to a slow start for me - I didn’t like either Hawthorne or narrator Anthony Horowitz and wasn’t drawn in with the theatre setting. Once the murder happened though, and narrator Anthony is trying to prove his innocence, I was all in. Cleve, entertaining, locked room mystery with twists, turns, red herrings, and an interesting take on the “true crime” genre.

The author Anthony Horowitz is also the first-person narrator in the book, and the fictional story makes readers feel like it happened in real life. While this is not an innovative move, he is clearly a very good storyteller. The book has a smooth narrative, skillfully balancing detailed description and story progression, with the narrative switching freely between tension and relaxation. Each chapter moves the story along just enough, without feeling long or rushed.
Everyone has a motive, and everyone is potentially innocent. I had no idea who the murderer was, but I enjoyed every moment of reading this book!
If you're a fan of literary whodunit, fast pace, and witty banter, "The Twist of a Knife" by Anthony Horowitz is a must-read for you. This book deftly weaves together the worlds of murder, writers and stage plays, delivering intricate plots and clever twists.

An excellent murder mystery! Loved the inclusion of the somewhat unreliable narrator- unsure if he had actually committed the murder. An excellent revelation at the end with all characters involvement being clearly laid out!
