I read this while suffering a bout of insomnia, thinking I'd nod off to sleep halfway through - and it was short. All it really did was make me want to read another! Erin and Marty are delighted to be the test subjects for a new theme park based on the "Shocker On Shock Street" movies that they're such fans of. This is thanks to the fact that Erin's father has designed the rides. However, once the ride/tour starts, the monsters that pop up seem way too real!
Even reading this decades later, you can see why the Goosebumps books were so popular. Once this one gets going, it doesn't stop for all its 117 pages. Erin and Marty are attacked by an assortment of monsters throughout the story, often just narrowly escaping. The cliffhanger chapter endings are a bit too reliant on Marty "disappearing" or pranking Erin, but that's par for the course for an R.L. Stine book! It caps off with a plot twist (as these books do), that I didn't see coming. It stretched credibility big time, but that being said, this IS a Goosebumps book, where you're not supposed to think about it too much!
Solid, unpretentious fun.
