So the reality of this book is that it's a horror anthology published in 1947, with stories stretch back into the 1800s.  As with anything published 70+ years ago, it does have some overtly problematic content with regards to sexism and racism.  I'm not here to defend any of that and made sure to hit all the trigger warnings I came across.

The content of the stories is fairly diverse.  Some will stick with me with their delightful twist, one will stick with me because the main character is an idiot
how anyone thought "in order to make sure this object is what's murdering people I will have it target me, and make sure I am alone that day" was a good idea I'm not sure
, and one for being the basis of an episode of Del Toro's "Cabinet of Curiosities."
