incredible essays. i recommend this book to everyone, especially women. the lack of intersectionality in feminism on the basis of race, sexuality, and identity is not a new issue and while it’s making progress, there’s a lot of room
to grow. audre lorde’s words are very powerful on the subject. while she largely looks through the scope of intersectional feminism, the values and ideas in these essays can be applied to a universal range of goals when it comes to social justice and making the world a better place for everyone, regardless of our varying differences and oppressions.

Sermons to chew on. Thick gristle that’s hard to swallow but necessarily vital. Should be required reading for all. For black women and women of color to find a cradle to lick their wounds in solidarity, witness horrors spoken of so factually yet eloquently, that they be used as knowledge instead of something to leave on the plate. For white women a lot may go over your head but with slow meandering around the visceral corners of reality outside of your privilege, you may take in more than you choose to know but could help in the long run, reduce the horrors we face with you blind. For black men to get a peek inside your part in playing the involuntary trope to the benefit of the white man and the detriment of black women, but also for growth, for salve, for solidarity with us as black women. For white men… well the ones that are open to saving lol, just shut up and listen.
