This was so good! The instant-devotion was a little weird, but it made some sense given Ethan’s history. I really enjoyed the way that Ethan’s character was developed across the book and how his relationship with Selena was developed. Also liked the return to the overarching plot line.

Not one of the better books in this world or series, but still readable and enjoyable because of the preexisting world building and characters. This one was very predictable, both with regards the big reveal about a main character, and also regarding the involvement of certain people in a *thing*. I don’t think this book brought anything new to the world, nor did it progress the overarching plot by much or in a particularly interesting way. Also the premise of the romance plot line was just too cliched for words.

I really liked this one. Ethan bearing his neck to his queen *swoons. I don’t know their dynamic just worked for me and it was a fun version of the love at first sight trope. They were just rude or die from the jump and I enjoyed that.

  • looking back, i didn't even realize i'd gotten this far through the book
  • i did like the dynamic between the two main characters, and how although the FMC was more dominant, she wasn't this big masc 'manly' type woman like in some of the other shit i've read
  • both characters were incredibly complex and held their own well both with each other and with others, as they were both leaders for their kinds in a way-ish
  • the insta-love was a bit much for me but what was frustrating was although there was insta-love it took SO LONG for them to physically 'get together' when let's be honest that's why i tried reading this shit originally
  • along with that, this book was SO plot-driven and it's like bruh i don't care about this complex world that has so many intricacies that i don't understand especially as this is book 4 in the world i just want to see her DOMINATE HIM is that SO MUCH TO ASK
  • ok im good i promise. ^ so yes i couldn't read any further because the plot was just too confusing and boring for me to grasp onto and my interest was lost
  • so overall i liked the character dynamics but plot-wise and world-wise it just was not my book, too many words my shallow and one-dimensional mind did not care enough about lol
