I listened to this on audiobook and the narrations 100000% made the book better. No way would it have been as good or funny reading it on paper in my own head. I was laughing wildly in my car to and from work at times and deeply thinking others. It was a great book. Discussion question: do you agree. Why or why not?

Some were clever commentaries or riffs on well-known legends, people and incidents. But this really should’ve been edited down as there were a lot of weird ramblings, undeveloped concepts, or pretentious one liners.
WTF was that anti trans joke (“I felt like a man trapped in a woman’s body … that’s how tight my gf’s pu$$y was”) and the Huckleberry Finn discussion with copious uses of the N-word with HARD R’s? Should’ve just expanded on the calendar inventor, the Kellogg exec’s real son & the s3x robot that fell in love.

Graphic: Racial slurs, Transphobia
Clever at first. Droll and precious by the end. More enjoyable if read in fits and starts.
medium-paced
Really enjoyed some stories, some stories where a bit meh.

Loved the narration on the audiobook!
Novak's collection of short stories was one of the best I have read. They were witty and original. Some of my favorites included "The Rematch" which was the story of how the tortoise agreed to a rematch with the hare (and why no one even remembers it), "Julie & the Warlord" where a normal female is put on a blind-date with an actual warlord & her awkward attempts at conversation (she even debates on whether she should sleep with him at the end of the date), & "Chris Hansen at the Justin Bieber Concert" (if you are a fan of "To Catch a Predator" you will know why this is hilarious). Other stories that made me laugh were "The Man who Invented the Calendar", "Confucius at Home", and "Pick A Lane" because they were amusing viewpoints and hilarious to ponder. My all-time favorite was "Wikipedia Brown & the Case of the Missing Bicycle". Anyone who grew up reading Encyclopedia Brown would appreciate this update on the classic with the fact that just like "wikipedia" some of the information has not been cited and some of the information provided is extremely random.

I shed a tear when this was over, 60/40 sure it was from laughter.
