I had no idea this book was happening until a couple of weeks before it released. I loved The Bird and the Sword, so needless to say, I was crazy excited about a sequel. And it did t disappoint. I loved Kjell's story and Sasha was another strong, female character holding her own against the men around her. I must go now and read more Amy Harmon books.

This 2nd book of the series was so well done.  I liked the cameos from book 1.  And the new characters were spot on.  A woman who sees the future but can't recall her past a man who's uncomfortable with his gifts.  He saves her and then is stuck with her until he's no longer stuck and she no longer forgets.

We get a a new land, a familiar villain, and some poignant and tortured love.  Again, the spice in here is simply alluded to.  It's all about the romance and circumstances constantly conspiring to keep them apart.

Lovely plot, spot on pacing, fantastic character development.   It puts you through your feels.

This one hurt! I wanted a happy ending so badly for Sasha and Kjell and couldn’t see how that could be at the twist. This has all the same beautiful written words like all of Amy Harmons books plus magic and adventure.

Content Notes: Vague open door romance

Finished this while jet lagged, so may be partly blame for the low rating. I was pretty bored for the first 40% but then it took a turn and got more exciting, but just seemed to feel a bit superficial the whole time. I did NOT get Sasha as a character.
