I had a book challenge goal to fulfill- read a book with an autumn-colored cover, so I chose this book. Doesn’t the cover just set the tone for the autumn season? It is so pretty, and one of my new favorite designs.

This story is set in New Hampshire and every time the resort was described, or the weather and activities, it made me think of all the trips my family and I would take “Up North” for the fall foliage season. That was something I really liked about this book. I am already in the mood for autumn (yes, to me August means autumn, lol) and reading about the mums and leaves and campfires set that stage and made me feel cozy. I also enjoyed reading about how Jonah’s family started the resort and have kept it in the family for so many years.

The story itself was fun to read. I was a little hesitant, as it is an amnesia-trope and that usually is not a favorite of mine. However, it was done really well and I had fun “watching” Lauren rediscover her missing summer. I thought Jonah was a good character. When Lauren initially arrived at the resort, the two butted heads (big time) so, of course, she is wondering how they went from that to being a couple. I didn’t blame her for being hesitant and confused. Girl, I would have been too! Jonah, however, really stepped up and was determined to do whatever it took to get her love back- including repeating steps to court Lauren as if the summer never happened. There was a level of maturity in the characters that I really appreciated.

I can’t end my review without mentioning the writers’ group that stays at the resort. Oh, what fun to read their scenes, and I loved how they are weaved into the end of the story.

I am so glad that I finally read this book. It is a keeper for sure.

Happy Publishing Day! Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of the audio.

Basic premise of the story is the FMC suffers a TBI and loses her memory. She doesn’t remember her boyfriend nor how she nice she was prior. It’s very Hallmark-ish. A good palate cleanser after reading a heavy novel. Easy to read. Charming and heartwarming. Definitely a sweet and relaxing book to read.

3 stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
