Reviews with content warning for Injury/Injury detail - Butcher & Blackbird

i don’t usually add content warnings to my reviews but i felt like i had to with this book..

but it was funny at times? and kind of cringe, but wholesome.

i am aware that butcher and blackbird choose to kill ’bad’ people, often serial killers.. but don’t they realise that they are just as bad?
they seem to think that killing a ’bad’ person is them doing a favor to the world. well they need help

Never thought I would say a romance about serial killers would be fun but this book was! I loved the way Rowan & Sloane’s relationship developed, and I did not see the surprise twist coming at the end! Also….very sexy and fun! Beware of wandering eyes when you are reading!

Sweet baby Jesus, this book was such a ride. Rowan and Sloane, Butcher and Blackbird...gosh what can I even say???

Sloane and Rowan are 2 serial killers that kill serial killers. They are also 2 badass motherfuckers who are lacking a certain kind of connection that others around them seem to have. After a crazy first meeting - complete with a corpse and maggots - the 2 find themselves drawn to each other. They create an annual game where whoever identifies and takes out a target first wins. Somehow the sweetest love story unfolds in all of that craziness!

I don't understand the hype surrounding this book. It's slightly better than what you could find on literotica.com, but not by much. The characters are over simplified and I didn't understand the world in which they existed. I wish there had been more world building. They have a side character who mentions their involvement in a circus and there's zero follow up questions. It's a book about two serial killers and I was bored. So bizarre that it has such high reviews. Hard pass.
