It reads like a horror book and a rom-com book had a horny offspring. It was interesting enough to keep me reading, but one element kept taking me out of the story:
Having Lark & Rowan's brothers know about Sloane & Rowan's serial killer antics and be cool with it. It felt like it was brushed off as just a fun hobby these two have in common. It feels like the couple being killers should be a bigger deal but then again, it's a dark comedy so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fast-paced. Dark humor. A deadly competition between two vigilante serial killers who fall in love. I simply couldn't help myself. And I am incredibly glad that I did! Even though I'm definitely scarred for life (seriously, read the content warnings before...Weaver isn't messing around).
This book made me laugh-out-loud probably more than I would care to admit. I loved Rowan's quick wit (and the fact that he's obsessed with Blackbird from day one), and sweet -- scoop-your-eyeballs-out -- Sloane. This is truly a tale of unconditional love, albeit insanely grotesque circumstances. It's a riot!

It’s amazing written with fantastic characters. The sex was WAY too much for me. I’m just not that kinky I guess.

How the heck did Miss Brynne Weaver make me fall in love with not one but 2 serial killers? If it wasn't for my chronic migraines i definitely would have cried reading this book. It was so sweet. This book was a rollercoaster in the best way possible. I love slow burn but I also get so frustrated especially when they're done right and this one definitely was.

The nicknames in this book - I love. And the fact that they all have a meaning. Never once do they call each other "baby" Rowan Kane took "touch her and die" quite literally, even to the point of "look at her and die" and I'm here for it.

The details were absolutely incredible to the way their minds worked and the intricacies of the murders and the scene - because yes they're explicit- it was beautiful. I could see the scene laid out in front of me as if I were watching Criminal Minds.

My only complaint is that after that epilogue I need more and I need it now, Miss Weaver. Please and thank you.

honestly im concerned that i gave this a 5 stars 😆 but the writing was so self aware and funny and she wraps plot points up pretty nicely like everything comes almost full circle. the gory bits were sometimes a bit too much (a little splash of traumatizing) but it didnt make the reading experience bad

Wow! I LOVED this book! It was cute and funny and had me sitting on the edge of my seat! I want more!! This book caught me totally off guard with how much I loved it, it was so different to what I was expecting and I didn’t want it to end!

Our main characters are so well-written! I never thought I could love two serial killers, and yet here we are! Their chemistry is insane and their banter had me giggling like a little girl!

The storyline was engaging and the book was very easy to read! The comedy throughout the book made it very hard to put down and I *devoured* this book in no time at all! I also love how the writing seamlessly transitioned from a gorey scene, to a spicy scene, to a cutesy-romantic scene. It didn’t feel forced or rushed, it all flowed together and it made reading so enjoyable! I cannot fully express how much I adored this book!

Also, Cookies and Cream was my favourite flavour of ice cream before reading this book, and now I’m not sure I’ll ever look at it the same way again! Totally worth it though!

I would definitely recommend reading this book along with the playlist that can be found at the beginning. I’ve never read a book while listening to music before and I’m so glad that I did this time, because the playlist added so many emotions and enhanced my connection to the book and its characters. Once again (just to make sure you understand)… I absolutely love this book!

“I didn’t gouge them out, Butcher. I plucked them. Delicately.”

“Boobs plus murder don’t equal a relationship.”

I absolutely loved this book! I loved the slow burn and chemistry between the main characters. Their relationship was so good and well written.

The plot was great and the book combined romance and murder in a nice and unique way. There were some heavy and dark moments but also some really funny moments that made me laugh out loud.

Please read the trigger warnings before reading. Personally I was a bit worried about the cannibalism/accidental cannibalism, but those scenes were mostly funny.

Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
