This book is NOT a dark romance! It's romance w/gore lmao.

I think this book was ok. I was entertained, but the book has major flaws. There is no world building, almost no character building and the pacing/timeline was weird. The formatting was also weird.

I love the main characters tho. I love Sloane's mental struggles and how her anxiety was written.
Also Rowan was written as Draco in early fanfiction. IYKYK 😏

This book definitely knows what it is and doesn’t shy away from itself. The author hits you right away with some pretty gruesome imagery, which I think sets the tone correctly for the rest of the book. Definitely not a book for the squeamish or faint of heart. Readers should definitely read the content warnings if they’re unsure.

That being said, the attraction between the two characters is instant and the romance builds at a good clip.

I also read this in audiobook format, which was excellently produced! I think the performance of both narrators was enhanced by recording the dialogues in the same room.

Read if you like gruesome scenes, body horror, and spice.

It reads like a horror book and a rom-com book had a horny offspring. It was interesting enough to keep me reading, but one element kept taking me out of the story:
Having Lark & Rowan's brothers know about Sloane & Rowan's serial killer antics and be cool with it. It felt like it was brushed off as just a fun hobby these two have in common. It feels like the couple being killers should be a bigger deal but then again, it's a dark comedy so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fast-paced. Dark humor. A deadly competition between two vigilante serial killers who fall in love. I simply couldn't help myself. And I am incredibly glad that I did! Even though I'm definitely scarred for life (seriously, read the content warnings before...Weaver isn't messing around).
This book made me laugh-out-loud probably more than I would care to admit. I loved Rowan's quick wit (and the fact that he's obsessed with Blackbird from day one), and sweet -- scoop-your-eyeballs-out -- Sloane. This is truly a tale of unconditional love, albeit insanely grotesque circumstances. It's a riot!

It’s amazing written with fantastic characters. The sex was WAY too much for me. I’m just not that kinky I guess.

How the heck did Miss Brynne Weaver make me fall in love with not one but 2 serial killers? If it wasn't for my chronic migraines i definitely would have cried reading this book. It was so sweet. This book was a rollercoaster in the best way possible. I love slow burn but I also get so frustrated especially when they're done right and this one definitely was.

The nicknames in this book - I love. And the fact that they all have a meaning. Never once do they call each other "baby" Rowan Kane took "touch her and die" quite literally, even to the point of "look at her and die" and I'm here for it.

The details were absolutely incredible to the way their minds worked and the intricacies of the murders and the scene - because yes they're explicit- it was beautiful. I could see the scene laid out in front of me as if I were watching Criminal Minds.

My only complaint is that after that epilogue I need more and I need it now, Miss Weaver. Please and thank you.

honestly im concerned that i gave this a 5 stars 😆 but the writing was so self aware and funny and she wraps plot points up pretty nicely like everything comes almost full circle. the gory bits were sometimes a bit too much (a little splash of traumatizing) but it didnt make the reading experience bad
