I read accidental cannibalism on the list of content warnings and definitely did a double-take but decided to read regardless. Definitely one of the more graphic (for a lack of better words) stories, but the humourous voices kind of livened up a very gruesome narrative.
Surprised that I enjoyed it more than I thought, but I don't know the right kind of person to recommend this to (and perhaps it would be good thing to not know a person who'd be unequivocally down for this without hesitation...but to each their own).

“For those of you who read the trigger warnings and said “Accidental cannibalism?! Count me in!” This one’s for you.”

Serial Killers, Romance, Humor & Family Drama. That’s this story, and when your sister says you need to listen to the book, you do as she says. She was right. I needed this story, like an axe to a body part I was hooked on the storytelling, the world that Brynne Weaver built, and the humor was hysterical. When two serial killers come together you might never see the romance coming, but who else could you share your life with?

“Maybe I was right. We’re not normal people. We are monsters. But if we’re monsters, we’ll thrive in the dark. Together.”

The perfect book to get me out of the reading slump I had fallen into for more than a month now.

I love morally gray characters especially when their purpose is for the greater good. All those gory details never bothered me. Though, I think being a true crime fan had made me immune to that. And the fact that the "victims" were serial killers and their targets were innocent people kinda lessen's the MCs guilt it, I guess? My moral compass is askew but idc.

I love Sloane and Rowan. I love their banter. How they looked out for each other and accepted their respective flaws because they can relate to one another. I love how Rowan insists on talking and being honest to one another and how Sloane makes an effort to overcome her trauma to trust him.

I also love every one of the side characters and can't wait for their stories, too. And I will definitely be reading more works from the author in the future.

PS:
And proposing by stuffing the ring into a dead serial killer's empty eye sockets was the icing of the cake lmfao. Perfection

I think I would’ve enjoyed this way more of I had known less about it. I didn’t even read the synopsis before downloading but I’d heard it was really gory and dark and fucked up and it just read like a regular romance novel where some people happened to die/get murdered. I still liked it, it was just really tame and I had my hopes up but it was still pretty fun. I liked how obsessed Rowan was and there were a few bits that made me laugh

It started out very slow. By about halfway through it picked up. A cute read but didn’t feel like it lived up to the hype of BookTok.
