so i read this in school and i'm gonna be completely honest, i did not read the entire book. i read some chapters here and there just for the purpose of doing my assignments but... I HATED IT!! i read the first 5 chapters consecutively and could NOT get into it. i don't like the plot, it's super slow, and it's just complicated! i feel so bad talking about someone's writing like this but i did not enjoy it. there are racial slurs in the book to this day which i find offensive, but they don't even apply to me (i just think we should stop normalizing the use of those words just because it's a classic. they should be adapted to today's thinking). the only reason i am giving it 1 star is because it ultimately does have a good message. maybe if i try and really read it again i would like it more, but for now it's a big no.

how is this book about race and the struggles of the black community when more than 75% of the book is just about scout and her brothers daily life

its just a book that white people read to like calm their white guiltĀ
