I loved this book. It was very interesting. I am SO sad that Weaver died! I knew it all along that Hatter was the father of Molly. Queen Alyss was meant for Dodge. I just can't wait to find out what Redd does next!
Favorite Character: Homburg Molly

This was SO MUCH MORE EXCITING than the first installment. The action was more intense and detail-oriented, the romance has gotten more serious, and the villians even more dispicable. Plus.. the cover of this one is just effing epic.

I'd say more 4.5 because there seemed to be a few plot holes, but it was such an enjoyable read that I couldn't put it any lower. I stayed up practically all night to finish this because it just pulls you in so well. So, from my willingness to do that, it gets a much higher rating. But, not as good as the first book. It took me two tries to actually start this book.

It was a bit slow and redundant at parts. The first book was a little bit better. Still a good read that entertained me enough to get through it.

Great story ideas but I am too much of an alice and wonderland purist to really want to read a completely different take on it. I am surprised I read all of the first one.

I started this book way back in 2013 and with all that was going on couldn't seem to finish it. Now that I have finished it in kinda glad. The writing style in the book was a bit childish to me, which is okay because it is a YA book, it's to be expected. But there was a major lack of any character development and I enjoyed the first book much more. I was slightly disappointed in this one but I will stick it out to the end with book 3.

I think with the first book of this series the story line was much more independent. This one obviously relies more on what happens in the next installment, which is fitting for a trilogy, though I must say I prefer the independence of book one. I think a lot of the issues raised in this book were refreshing and necessary to make it a believable and relatable story in such a fantastical universe. I did tire of the focus on Redd and Arch, but again, necessary.

After Redd's disappearance, Alyss Heart is now queen, and must rebuild and return Wonderland to it's former glory. Not an easy task when the three elite families despise you, a love interest who's dedicated his love to revenge, and her trustworthy warrior goes MIA for mysterious and personal reasons. As a new and old threat comes from all sides, Alyss must give it all her imagination to save her loves ones and her family's legacy.

Beddor has two things going for him: the action, and the world he built. The world especially is smart, and is described in such detail, it's amazing. His writing is consistent- meaning it's similar to the previous book, therefore, I still have some problems. First, the book is divided into 3 sections; the first gets the ball rolling, the second is pretty monotone (and not much of a development), the third is the climax.

The middle part worried me a little. It was built on action that was amazingly descriptive, but didn't exactly move the story along. I had the feeling that Beddor cared more about the fate of Wonderland rather than the characters in it (or around it). Which isn't bad, but it is interesting. Other than that observation, I enjoyed it. This book did set up for the next, and I can't wait to see what happens.
