Favourite Quote: "The high road? We don't know her"

What happens when you go to visit your estranged father and arrive just in time for his funeral and will reading? Well you make the best of it like Jessa did.

Overall this is a really good book, Sarah does so well in combining spice (in the form of Jessa's dad's best friend) and plot (via a stalker ex). I enjoyed the detail that was put into describing the BDSM lifestyle and the lack of shame around the dynamics the main characters were engaging in. Although Jessa was a meeker FMC than I would usually enjoy, I still liked her as a character and experiencing her growing a backbone. The only downside is the ending felt a bit unresolved for me.

Jessa is attending the funeral of a father she never knew but when her half brother invites her she hopes this is the beginning of a family she always wanted. What she gets is far from it. When she realizes that what she is leaving with is a home, shares in a company she knows nothing about and a brother who wishes she didn’t exist. What saves her is the promise of a job from her fathers best friend and business partner Aiden.
Aiden is doing his best to keep the company that his best friend left behind going. His promise to take care of and guide his kids is a little more challenging. When his attraction to Jessa grows he tries to deny it but it become to much to ignore.

I loved this book so much, Aiden is the definition of Daddy. His obsession, possessive, protectiveness, of Jessa is just perfect. His dominance of her is just the right amount. His after care and love for her, his willingness and helpfulness to help her grow is just chef kiss.
Jessa is a strong, beautiful MFC. Her growth and personal accomplishments and acceptance in this book is perfect.

There’s no stakes in this or anything forbidden. These two did not give a f***

I feel like Daddy Kink is hard to write without coming across as 1) incestuous or 2) infantilizing. This author straddled that line perfectly, which I adore. For whatever reason I simply just didn’t find myself taking any sort of invested interest in the characters though.

Super cute and spicy novella. Tons of ddy kink but in a light way that was just enough of a power exchange. Jessa got out of a terrible long term kink relationship with an unhealthy balance of power. Also recently she just became an orphan. So she is struggling on multiple fronts. Then she meets Aiden as her new boss and her father’s best friend.  Uh oh! They are instantly drawn to one another despite the forbidden aspect and despite her unique needs. Aiden welcomes his new role with Jessa and is the ultimate caregiver and protector in the end. Jessa’s confidence blooms through the book and it was nice to see. I can’t wish for penny and Lincoln’s book too!
