An interesting and slightly more in-depth view at Arnold Schwarzenegger's life (up until the publishing date sat least) than the Netflix series. Both cover the same overall idea of his three different careers, but obviously, a book has more space to go into the smaller details.
I found some inspiration from this one, it also got some giggles out of me, made me frustrated and had me googling for some details along the way out of pure interest to see some things from before my time.
I felt like the book captured his voice very well – or whatever I construe as his voice based on the things I've seen and heard.
My favourite recurring detail is what a good business instinct he seems to have. And my favourite part/career was probably the first one as it shows a world that no longer exists and it was fascinating to read about.
Overall, a solid and interesting read in my opinion.

WOW WHERE DO I START WITH THIS? this book is hands down one of the best books I have ever read. I went in blind about Schwarzenegger’s story. I knew that he was a body builder and an actor but everything else I didn’t know. And boy oh boy did I love it. This book made me feel like Arnold himself is right next to me telling me his story. It’s conversational and it’s done amazingly. The book made me laugh, it changed how I think on the world. It made me sad. Arnold’s hunger is something I loved reading about. I’m not hugely into politics so, his political section of his life didn’t hold my interest that compared to his bodybuilding and movie career. Nevertheless this book is amazing. Thank you Arnold Schwarzenegger!!!

A wildly inspiring life story, recalling some of the most influential moments of entertainment and politics from the last half century. Schwarzenegger has had a truly incredible life, from his beginnings as a poor Austrian farm boy to becoming the most famous actor in the world and eventually the governor of California.
The book feels open and transparent as he retells many unflattering moments from his personal and public life over the years. But between the mistakes is a life of hard work and endless drive.
The only real issue with the book was the last 10-20% where the storytelling and drama fell off in favor of haste. After so much minutiae from every other chapter of his life, the final last years were breezed through without getting to fully understand his decisions and place in the world.

This book made me think of how talented a good ghost writer has to be. It reads as though you are in Arnold's head. I felt like he wrote every word although I know he didn't.
I found myself really disliking the young Arnold - a panhandling, womanizing, jock acting dude who was focused on his own pursuits with little thought to those around him. I really felt like I was looking into the mind of one of those athletic kids from my childhood who looked at me with disdain and picked me last for the baseball team.
As the book went on I grew to admire Arnold's intense focus and determination. This is a man who came up from nothing and through sheer force of will achieved every one of his goals. The downside of his personality is that he tramped on the feelings of his loved ones on the way to the top. His poor wife Maria and his children have really suffered as Arnold did whatever he wanted without discussing it with his family.
I voted for Arnold twice for governor. I felt like he gave up into his second term. I was disgusted when he pardoned Fabio Nunez's son. He doesn't mention this act in the autobiography. What he does give is a spirited list of his accomplishments for California. I don't completely agree, but he accounts for his actions well in the book.
