Over-written. I could not get into this book. 60+ pages of every little detail of the kid's day, school, video game accessories.... painful.

This was an excellent sci-fi read, partially because it explained everything so well. I wish the main character has more flaws though as they very much ended up the perfect hero, and at times the explanation was overdone. I also wish there has been more bittersweetness to the ending rather than a straightforward open-ended story.

OMG this story is AMAZING! I'm listening to Wil Wheaton totally nail all the character development and emotional emphasis and it just comes alive for me. The story is engaging, with the right amount of explanation/backstory at the right moments. Cline takes care to fully explain computer, gaming and other terms or theories so even the most inexperienced reader will understand, without being redundant or condescending at any time. He reminds us constantly that there is a real world out there, with real problems, even while the majority is set inside the video game world.

I'm finding myself wanting to listen all the time, even bringing it to work with me just in case. I can't wait to see what comes next! I've reached the romance part, where the main character stops obsessing over the puzzle and starts concentrating all his time on the girl. I'd like to get back to the puzzle, even though I like the girl and story.

Finished the book. I loved it!

Wow! Absolutely devoured this! If you like  this, you’d like the Illuminae series and the other way around!
