I donât think I have ever cried for a fictional character as much as I have for Joey Lynch. And for Aiofeâs pain.
âŸïž/5 âïž
Joey is a good man at heart, loyal, protective, and unwilling to ever abandon his siblings, no matter how many times he swears heâs done. But how many times can you beat someone down before they finally break? Redeeming 6 shows Joey pushed well past his breaking point and it is devastating to witness.
âBecause, despite his shortcomings, Joey Lynch held the morals of a good man. His morals would never allow him to leave his siblings, and his loyalty would never allow him to leave her.â

âBecause, despite his shortcomings, Joey Lynch held the morals of a good man. His morals would never allow him to leave his siblings, and his loyalty would never allow him to leave her.â
The beginning offers glimmers of happiness, Joey clean, opening up to Aoife, and daring to imagine a future. But the rug inevitably gets pulled. His addiction, his motherâs cruelty, and his fatherâs violence and looming shadow destroy him piece by piece.
âI want you to love yourself enough to stop destroying yourself.â
âHow do you ever expect that to happen when the very person who gave birth to me canât love me?â
Aoife is a warrior, fiercely loyal, endlessly patient and the one person who truly sees Joey beneath the armor. Objectively, he hurts her over and over again, but her belief in him never wavers.
âYouâre worth believing in, Joe. You are so incredibly worth it all.â
Many moments shattered me: Joeyâs rage at Darren when accused of being unfit to parent, his despair when he thought his siblings died in the fire, and Shannon raising the issue of his lack of consent in his past. Each scene peels back another layer of his trauma and itâs unbearable to read.
âYouâre too young to be a father.â
âIâve always been a father! ⊠I kept them alive. I kept them fed, and loved, and nurtured and goddamn educated. I did that. Not you. Not him. Not Mam. Me.â
Marie Lynch? Absolutely irredeemable. Any sympathy I had for her is gone. Her cruelty toward Joey was heartbreaking and with even a shred of maternal love, his story could have been different.
Despite all the pain, this book finally delivers a hard-fought, deeply earned ending. Joey, Aoife, and their baby deserve every ounce of happiness.
âRide or die, Joe.â
âRide or die, Molloy.â

It was a really sweet book overall. It isnât going to redefine a genre or anything but it tugged on the heart strings and it was so nice seeing some of the characters that I fell in love with again.
The only thing I will say is that it does not do a good job of setting up the next books in the series. I feel like with the first four done I am happy to lay Tommen to rest. I donât like Lizzie as a character and Iâve heard bad things about Taming 7. But overall an enjoyable set of four - and if managed to be way less repetitive when youâre not constantly talking about Johnnyâs sore balls.

How I survived until the last page, I will never know.
Shattering + healing = Engraved into my soul into internity.
This book is real, it is raw, and it is not a perfect story, this was like real life. I was fighting for my life through this book, but it is an infinity star read.
Joey and Aoife have my whole, entire heart.
I cannot put into words the way my heart physically ached reading this. This is a gut-wrenching DEEP story, but my heart is so happy after the epilogue.
Also, I am extremely scared to read Gibbsy and Claire's book, I can't survive this level of deep a second time.
I am fulfilled now, while sobbing.
"Hey, Stud."
"Hey, Queen."
"Nice Shirt"
"Nice legs"
I love you Redeeming 6.
