this book was so fun omg: i absolutely loved sci-fi and things with games so (like ready player one) and this was so similar but different at the same time. emika got hired by hideo to find a hacking and plants her in warcross, soon they begin a romantic relationship. now while this is going on emika is mingling with her teammates and trying to stop zero (the hacker) and ren (one of her undercover teammates). her and her teaming working to together after they found out the truth was so cute. i know a lot of people hate hideo and emika’s relationship but i thought it was cute, i thought it was nice how he opened up to her about his missing little brother. now the plot twist at the end was really good, i was not expecting for hideo to turn out to be the villain (he wants to control everyone’s mind so no one ever commits a crime again (what happened to sasuke won’t ever happen to anyone else) using the neurolink) and i really liked emika’s internal battle between live and ethics, emika’s hacking skills were so cool omg, and the stuff with the dark world and her glitching into the game (the second time) was such a good ending. speaking of good endings, zero being sasuke was so crazy omgggg and emika working with zero

This book was very descriptive and slow-paced, but that helped us imagined the vivid, entertaining world of Warcross and the intimidating world of Dark World so much better like we really were part of it. I love Hideo's multi-dimensional characteristic, being so reserved and serious at work, while being unbelievably romantic and gentle with the one he loves. The intensity skyrocketed in the last 100 pages. The ending was the bomb! Can't wait to read its sequel!

There was a great premise but lost it at the quickie romance (I may have giggled but no this was not the Marie Lu writing I’ve admired since Legend). Too much romance in my opinion. I have expected more gaming and hacking scenes, than getting away with the boss most of the time.

Me ha gustado pero algunas cosas que suceden al final yo las había adivinado y creo que le quito algo de gracia a final :/

I really liked this one and I couldn't put it down. I even was angry at myself at some point for not being able to read fast enough.
It's been so long since I absorbed a physical book this fast, and was actually excited to go back and read it.
The story and plot were great, but a little predictable. I think the foreshadowing was enough though, and I'm not sure it could be avoided.
Still, I enjoyed it knowing what might happen.

Marie, my queen... you've done it again.

(me, in the background: *screaming into a pillow*)

This is a fantastic debut novel for Marie's next series! I love video game realities as a default, but this is such an awesome world of tech especially. I would actually love to see this on the big screen just for the grand, lush visuals we could be provided!

The three large plot twists were a little predictable for me, but I suspect that is more so because I've read enough at this point to see where things are going. However, the how and why these twists occur are/were surprises, so I'm pleased that even if I saw it coming, I was still surprised and betrayed! It's also setting up to be a very, very complex world when the second novel releases, so I am eagerly looking forward to how this all plays out.

I'm so happy Marie is back with a new series, and I CANNOT wait for book two. I'll definitely be getting this book with my annual B&N gift card(s) at Christmas. And maybe pre-ordering book 2?
