This was a really great book to read to understand myself more, and to understand more about people and society in general. I borrowed it from the library, but I'm hoping to buy a copy to annotate. My fingers were itching for a highlighter the whole time! I really recommend this to anyone to read, but especially to aces trying to understand more about what that might mean and remind yourself that you aren't alone.

I recommend picking and choosing chapters or sections to read and find the parts that will help you the most. It's all really informative and useful, but some people may find some sections more useful than others.

some really good points made and overall a good introduction to asexuality. really appreciated the chapters on intersectionality (disability, race, gender) and the beginnings of discussions of what relationships could look like if we moved past amatonormativity/compulsory sexuality. however, it seemed to me that some of these ideas were not fully developped or somewhat confused such as discussions on ace consent, and given the attention to the intersections of gender and the acknowledgment that many of the interviewees were genderqueer/non-binary, the lack of exploration of this topic seemed noticeable. whilst it is not chen's lived experience, neither is that of the black people she talked about or the binary trans people. additionally, a few times it is mentioned that in other (non-US) cultures cultural norms are different, but this is never really expanded on and i think could really add to the chapters about what styles of relationships etc are possibly.
