A classic for a reason. Good balance of cozy moments with tension and action. The world is vast and richly developed. We stan a good quest. Character work is, middling, I would say. Definitely the bones of strong characters but their motivations and traits were only explored at a surface level. Of course it's like a 15 book series so we hope for improvements in that area. We're told things about the characters a lot more than we are shown them, even with internal monologue. Skimmed a good bit of setting description ngl.

Okay, I won't stress upon the fact that this series has similarities to LOTR. Even if a work has similarities, or is inspired from, or even a straight up copy of another, it can be redeemed by author's own style of writing and the story. However, on these two, this particular book hasn't delivered much IMO.

And it's okay if the entire backstory of the world isn't known at the beginning. It can be revealed through the dialogues, as the story progresses. However if your series a 14 book long one, with each book having almost 700 pages, I would expect it to be revealed as fast as possible.

Now after this there will be spoilers

Okay, the main character doesn't even know he can use the magic/power, but at the last possible scene, he uses it to defeat the big bad and one of his major sidekick?

And the character Nynaeve, throughout 80% of the book she's shown to be antagonistic to the Warder Lan, but when she finally learns that he learns that he's an heir to a Kingdom, she wants to marry him..."rolls eyes"

3.75⭐️ rounded up to 4⭐️. This one was very tough to get into. Took me until at least 59% to start enjoying it. But overall, I really liked this one and I did enjoy the world building, the world building was fantastic but some parts just left me really bored. I will definitely be carrying on this series!
