Almost put down, but never can get myself to do that. I thought the characters were contrived and immature, but it was an ok story. Will not read the next in the series.

I really appreciate an author who actually knows hockey. Hockey romances are the big thing right now, but sometimes you get an author who has only watched a few games and doesn't quite understand the ins and out of the game and its cutlture. I did like Ms. Worrell added a glossary in the beginning. However, the story, while entertaining, was really marred by the writing style. Also, Ms. Worrell felt the need to explain everything the characters were thinking and doing, leaving nothing to the imagination. I don't like to be told what's going on; I'd much rather be shown what's going on.

I don't think I'll be continuing this series. I'm interested in Vlad's story, but I don't think the book would hold my attention.

A cute and fun read. I think it had great potential and slightly missed the mark, but still, a fun read :)

PRETTY GOOD

These POV switching from character to character, including secondary ones, is annoying. I have a problem with some of these heroines in books. I like possessive men in a book, so I think the women need their head checked when they don't like all that protectiveness. But I understand why some people don't like it. What I DON'T understand is why these women don't put themselves in the hero's shoes? Lacey doesn't like it when women are all over Jody. So, how would SHE feel if HE went to a speed dating event? I don't like Lacey. She was judgemental. I disliked her views on supposed weak women. For example, she said wearing dresses make women look like they need a man around. Seriously? I LOVED Jody's character. He was so sweet. He knew what he wanted, he didn't play games. He wasn't sleeping around before or after they met. He was a protective person, which was understandable given his experiences. I liked his mix of cockiness and vulnerability. Pretty good story.

I've always loved hockey but after reading this book,I think it's my favourite sport..

I loved the story and all the characters in it..It was well written and it was never dull..It's really amazing..

Lacey is a normal woman,I would say.Determined and ambitious; yet sensitive and an incredible friend..She is adored by everyone, even though she doesn't really pursue it..She is struck by tragedy and betrayal but she stood on her feet..No outrageous tendencies and quite normal reactions..
She is quite down-to-earth and I absolutely love her..

Jody is just..swoon-worthy..Not just because he is hot and well-built..He is understanding and very very adorable..He thinks he screws up a lot and doesn't have a way with words but both lacey and me,as a matter of fact, believe he is saying the exactly perfect words..Not just because they're honest but because they speak from his heart..And I loved him for realising that he has some over-over-protective and possessive tendencies and he is actually doing something about it..He doesn't let anything get between him and his happiness that is Lacey, and he is working on it..

It was utterly wonderful and I recommend it hands on..Actually, it's a MUST read..

Enjoyable read about a hockey enforcer and a woman healing from a bad relationship. The only thing I didn't like was the constant interplay between Vlad and Zoe. I don't know what her mental health license is, but mine says that I can NEVER have a personal relationship of any kind with a client, current or former. Not sure I even want to read the next book.

Held my attention from the beginning. Lacey and Jody were characters that I enjoyed a lot and were both realistic and likeable.

Wasn't a fan of Steven and his subplot, not the "surprise" Lacey had for Jody at the end of the book. I don't like when authors use that to add to the plot. Overdone.

Loved the mentioning of the Philadelphia Flyers and even the Jersey Devils. Gotta love when they mention the locals.

The over-protective, possessive he-man is such a frequent trope in this genre that it's genuinely surprising to see someone actually point out how unhealthy it is. Not only does Lacey not like the behavior, Jody actually gets professional help to stop it. That said, there are some fundamental writing problems here that keep this from being a particularly good read. The author over explains dialogue that tells us everything we need to know. The transitions between scenes can be really sloppy and the characterization doesn't always feel entirely real. The author spends a lot of time trying to justify the emotional beats, but somehow that don't feel as earned as books that take place over shorter amounts of time. She's also trying a bit too hard to set up a sequel with Zoe and Vlad and their scenes often feel like they come out of nowhere. All that said, there's some genuinely hot stuff in here. Seeing a woman go down on a guy in this genre is rare enough, but this is the first time I remember reading about actual 69'ing. Won't be picking up the next book, but this wasn't a bad way to spend a few hours.
