Its a great book but the ending makes me furious. I guess its not something the author can change as it is a true story but it is something that could have definitely been prevented. The jury or judge should have had a say on his fate.

Well his dumbass wasn’t that smart considering he confessed for nothing. I’ve seen teenagers hold out longer with actual interrogators and detectives.

In all seriousness, this was a well-written book that took lengthy documents and transcripts and created a narrative story out of them without embellishment. I had heard of Israel Keyes before, but only in the context of the Koenig case, the 12 victims drawing, and his suicide. His confession about the Courrier couple was terrifying, as was how he left no trace and operated on insanely tight time tables. He killed a girl in his own damn backyard!

A true sadist even from an early age, Keyes seems to have been born without empathy. Or, perhaps, selective empathy since he took good care of his sisters and his daughter, reportedly. It was deeply intriguing to learn about his childhood and army days as it was infuriating to hear how mishandled his case and stay at the Anchorage Correctional Cenger was. Kevin Feldis you fucking idiot. Man, that felt good.
