Even though I gave this book a high rating, I don't think I will ever be able to read it again. Graphic and heart-wrenching.

So much gets fit into this thin book - so much is hard to stomach. So much is beautiful.

formatted almost entirely as narrative, Minor Detail is successfully weaves the small details surrounded the story, creating a poignant reading experience for the readers. this book is divided into two parts—where the latter takes place 25 years apart—and yet, both are still equally haunting, horrifying, and devastating. it’s definitely an eye-opening read, truly heartbreaking, and will stunned you for awhile. needless to say, one of the book that’s going to stay with me forever.

Told in two parts, this powerful narrative is just one small look into Israel, Palestine, and the reverberations across generations. The first part is about an Israeli army platoon, and the girl they find in the middle of the desert; it continues 50 or so years later, when a current Palestinian women tries to find out more information about that exact girl. It's heartbreaking, and truly transports you into the desert. And the literary prowess is astonishing; how the author is able to connect the two parts and the two women could be analyzed in an English paper, yet is so understandable to anyone reading. And for the author to have done all of that in just over 100 pages makes it incredibly accessible for just about any reader. It can be quite a hard read, but is worth it for the understanding you gain. If you're interested in reading from a Palestinian author, this book is an excellent recommendation.

Read this in one day. The prose is sparse and hypnotic, well translated on the part of the translator. I was sucked into the story and it was effective in communicatong it's message and themes. I thought some of the imagery (spiders, dogs, gasoline) were a little heavy handed, especially as the story is so short. However, overall well crafted and upsetting.
