I find it hard to believe I've never read this. I grew up loving the Shirley Temple version, and fell in love again with the 90's version (who knew THAT would happen). I'm really surprised I've never read this.
10/31 - Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
I really, really liked this! It differs just enough from the movie, which had a sweet, rather fantastical ending. This one was so much better. And I love that despite the fact that the Shirley Temple version will always be the first in my mind, it's so much closer to the 90's version, which was a lot funner.
Just love. So much love.

This is the second book that I've read from Ms. Frances Hoggson Burnett. As a teen, Sara is a great role model and I want to be more like her with her calm demeanor and great manners. Though, I like the secret garden more if I'm being honest.
The reason I like the secret garden better is most probably cause of Mary's and Collin's flaws. I was also looking forward for a Lavinia redemption, which of course didn't happen. For me, it's lacking the 'magic' in the ending. She was rich, she turned into a servant and was mistreated, and became rich once more. So..what? (I was really happy though when becky got what she deserved!)
Nothentheless everything I said, I still love this book and planning to watch the anime series soon :)

A NEAR PERFECT CHILDREN'S BOOK!!!
I pretty much grew up on the 1995 film version of the book, and I remember watching it religiously since we used to have it on VCD. If I were to compare the book and the film, of course, the book would be better. There were a lot of details that were not present in the film and some scenes were changed. Nevertheless, the ALT film can stand on its own since Cuaron (director) depicted it in such a magical and fairytale-like way.
This book is just amazing. The story was so wonderful and it will keep you engaged and wanting for more, no matter how old you are. It has a set of characters that are so memorable, they will be a part of you for the rest of your life. It's very inspirational and emits a lot of emotion. If you have children, this will be a perfect book to read to them before they sleep. Or you can also read this while doing laundry in a rainy afternoon.
I just can't recommend this enough. It was well-written and full of life lessons. Happy to have read this during a 4 hour-long trip.

I honestly never thought I’d give 5 stars to a children’s book, but this was so beautiful. The writing, the characters, the story, everything was so well written and I loved every page.
I think I may have liked the ending to the movie better, which is a very rare thing for me to say. Still loved it
