This book was very sweet. A predictable happy ending, but sometimes that is all you want. Very enjoyable.

A lovely retelling of the classic fairytale, Cinderella! Sara, a “princess” who loses her father and her riches, but never her kindness, even in the face of her dire living situation is the world Burnett has created. A sweet story to share and come to time and time again!

I read this as a little girl, and enjoyed reading it again. Sara Crewe is rich and doted-upon by her father. He sets her up at a little boarding school in London then returns overseas to work with his diamond mines. At the school, Sara attracts devotion and jealousy due to her grace, her class, her generosity and kindness, and her ability to make up stories and pretend. When her father dies she is left a pauper who has to work to maintain her board, but she maintains her good humour and kindness, and eventually she is restored to her position. A fairy tale-like story, with a perfect character who is angelic and beautiful.

Exceptionally Good Book!!!!!!
Sara just captured my heart with her attitude it didn't matter what happened she never snapped.

The problem with reading a book you really love is how honestly sad it is when you reach the ending. This was one of my favorite stories growing up and I just finished re-reading it for the first time as an adult. As much magic and positive energy as it held for me as a child, I was captivated as an adult. The imagery and emotion is so endearing.

The first two-thirds or three-quarters of the book are absolutely better than the ending, which is a bit particularly far-fetched and moves very rapidly unlike the rest of the story, but everyone loves a happy ending so it works out.

Never more lovely than read to us each afternoon by Mrs Mills in grade
5. Beautiful evocative book for kids.

I had never read this classic as a little girl and was inspired to do so after watching the VeggieTales show based upon this story. It is a sweet, heartwarming story that is a delightful quick read.
