It's not bad but definitely does not translate to an adult reader. It was nostalgic because it reminded me of something I would've liked as a kid. It has really nice quote-worthy moments like children's books usually do about being kind, etc. I like that Sara's personality changed with her circumstances, she wasn't a static protagonist. Enjoyable read overall.

The book has some dated language but the message stands the test of time and was enjoyed vacation read. A heartwarming story with a great cast of misfit characters.

this is one of those books that i read as a child, and could read over and over again...and never get bored by it. the story is captivating...of course, Sara Crewe is everything you want to be as a little girl...smart, creative, and secretly a princess!

it's a must read for any child, or child at heart.

I can't wait to have a daughter to read this to.

I am the farthest thing from a feminist, but I'm sick and tired of these stories telling girls to stoically put up with so much abuse and adversity so that a benevolent man would come to their rescue. Or that princesses are inherently good. Or that it's ok to treat of certain "classes" like "drudges".
