4.19 AVERAGE

Although I do not enjoy reading it now I had to give it four stars because when I was eight or nine I read it over and over.

It's been a while since I've read this, but I just remember thinking that it was very depressing.

this book is in my top five. for sure.

I adored the film, growing up, and was delighted to see how the story originally went. While I love what the film did, there's a magic in the book that just cannot translate to screen. Sara made me want to be a little princess myself, no matter what.

Forever and always one of my favorite children's books.

DID NOT FINISH

Reread as part of my "Memory Lane May" Readathon and unfortunately it has not stood the test of time. I could not finish it. I absolutely loved the 1990's movie version as a kid and watched it over and over, and maybe for fun I will try the movie to see if that has stood up to time. However, the book has not. I just could not get into it, it felt dull. Such a bummer.
