Oh my gosh WHAT A book. Immediately I was on edge with Celaena being the kings champion, she’s got a line though and I was partly terrified for her this whole book - iykyk. I quite clearly could not put this down since I’ve finished it in 48 hours. It hooked me from the first sentence to the last page. And WHAT a bloody last page it was. My heart aches for Celaena and all she’s been through. What she continues to go through.
Again, the magic, it’s gone from the kingdom thanks to adarlan. Finding out snippets of more of what it was like before it was purged was super interesting and what it revealed about certain characters

A good sequel, I really felt like I was trudging through some parts but reading the other reviews it seems like that was just me? I’m looking forward to the third, which is where it REALLY gets good I’ve heard, but will probably take another small break in between this book and that one

The last chapter shook me to my core

This book was about to get another 3 stars like the first book until literally the last chapter. The plot in this book was a lot more fast paced and filled with important details to move the story along which I was happy about but I often found myself able to put the book down if I didn’t make myself keep reading. I was SOOOOO happy when Chaol and Celaena got together … if only for 5 mins before she got angry. Surprisingly Dorian grew on me in this book and I actually started to love him when he stopped being JUST a boring heir to the throne and had more depth to his character. The end of this book made me a little depressed cuz why did it feel like a final goodbye for these characters??? I know they’ll come back but I feel like the next book is gonna be a lot of new introductions and new characters when I’m gonna miss the OGs
