This is one of the few memoirs I’ve read where I feel like I know just as much about the person after reading the book as I did before. There is a distance that is maintained, although the author speaks candidly about her marriage, I still didn’t get a sense of who she was or how she really felt. Another thing that struck me, despite the clearly documented hardships she experienced, there is still this sense of someone who is charmed and living a life that many of us would not be able to attain.

Having listened to two insightful interviews with the author, I just skimmed this so don't feel I can actually review it. What I read was fascinating - a look at the high-powered and exhausting life of a political operative - and heartbreaking - how what seemed like a picture-perfect marriage fell apart in a shameful and very public way.

This book had some interesting moments but it felt like a love letter the Hillary Rodham Clinton.
