Loved this book. Reminded me a lot of Fall of Our Stars, Longest Ride. If you like love a story where the guy rescues a messed up girl you will love this book.

There was a heavy case of insta-lust here. Also, this book had enough drama to rival Fallen Crest High.

Okay, I lied. Nothing is even close to being that dramatic, but still.

Overcoming tragedy and trying to continue on with your life are the emotions running throughout this great book. Lacey and Kades story takes some twists and turns but the depth of their characters leave the reader with a better understanding of young love. I cannot wait to read more in the Maxwell brother series.

I would say this book is geared towards reads from the age range 18-25. I am just out of the range I did enjoy it. The story line was well written and I had a hard time putting the book down. I think with the book geared towards teens still in high school the only problem I had was the sex underlay in the book. I feel that could have been left out and the story line still would have been amazing. This is a fun book keeps you on the edge of your seat at some points and is worth the read if you are looking for a down to earth fun loving group of kids who have been forced to group up a little to fast by facing adult situations.

I was given a copy of this book for my honest review from netgalley

I received an ARC version of this book from NetGalley. Minor spoilers.

I really enjoyed this book. I absolutely loved the Maxwell brothers and can't wait to read the rest of the series. The story line touched on a number of serious issues, like PTSD and I think it was handled well. I do have some issues and questions about the plot. Is it really possible that a teenage girl would be powerful enough to pitch for a college team, like the main character wanted? I'm asking purely out of curiosity. I'm from Australia so I'm not that familiar with the skills needed for baseball. I felt like Lacey really needed to have an honest conversation with the dad. At the very least she needed to tell him about the threats she was receiving. I'm a teacher and if one of my students was being threatened like Lacey, the school would get involved. It's not a court of law, so the whole he said/she said excuse doesn't hold up, although I do acknowledge that the US system is different. Something is going on with her dad though. I think it might be explored in the next book. I loved that Lacey could take care of herself. I really enjoy novels where the main character can take care of themselves. Kade was hot, hot, hot! (In my mind, I pictured him as older, so I didn't feel like a pervert) The sex scenes were sweet and sexy. I would have loved for the author to flesh out the back story with the boyfriend and best friend. If that guy really was her best friend, he should have had some sort of explanation for what went down. Surely he just wouldn't have stolen her boyfriend and never spoken to her again, especially after what happened to her family. It was more about the ex, but for me the bigger betrayal was from the best friend. I'm hoping that in the next book, they deal with the bully situation realistically. At the end of the day these characters are kids, and the author has hinted at the bullies having mafia connections, so I hope they don't try to deal with it themselves. One person has already been killed. Overall, this is a good start to a new YA series. I hope they plan on books for all of the Maxwell boys.

Dare to Kiss by S.B. Alexander is a very interesting sports romance. I liked the story and the characters. Dare to Kiss is the first book in the Maxwell series and is Kade and Lacey’s story. The plot line is engrossing and I kept reading to find out what happened with Lacey and Kade. There is so much more to the story beyond the romance between Kade and Lacey and I liked that. I hope to read more books in the Maxwell series.

Lacey has always loved baseball and it has always been her dream to play in college. Things in her life were perfect until her home was invaded and she lost two very important people in her life. She was never the same again. She suffers from PTSD from walking in on the gruesome scene. Following her therapist advice, her father moves her form their home across the country to another town and another school. She is going to be the first girl on their team since the loss of a previous player. She has a lot o to live up to and a lot to deal with especially since some of the players are not happy about the prospect of her being on their team. That is when she meets Kade and the Maxwell brothers. Kade is intriguing and as they spend time together she finds that she is drawn to him. The closer they grow the deeper their feelings for each other grow but she didn’t want to get too close because of her PTSD. Then he sees her during one of her episodes and he doesn’t run in the other direction. Is it possible that he is going to be there for her no matter what? Or will he leave her when the season is over? Can she truly find happiness in her nightmare of a world?

Kade is one of the Maxwell brothers and he was very protective of those he loved. When the coach asks him to watch out for Lacey the new girl that is trying out for the baseball team he agrees. He is thrilled when he finally meets her because there is just something about her that draws him to her. He knows that he will do anything to protect her if it is needed. The more time they spend together the more he falls for her. He knows that she isn’t ready for all he has to offer her but he is willing to take things slow. He knows that he must earn her trust before she will truly love him. He is willing to do whatever it takes to win her heart. When she finds out that the coach asked him she feels betrayed and she pulls away from him. He is saddened and isn’t sure what he can do to regain her trust once again but he knows that he will continue to look out for her. He will do anything to help her stay focused and not let distractions getting in the way of her getting on the team. Will he be able to regain her trust? Or will he be left without girl he loves?

I liked Dare to Kiss and enjoyed the fact that there was way more to the story than just another romance. I thought it was interesting and added to the plotline really well. My favorite character was Lacey because she had so much to overcome and was stronger for it. I don’t know if I would be able to move on the way she did. I know she had her episodes but she really was an amazing girl. I liked Kade and his brothers as well. I liked how protective Kade was of Lacey and I loved that he was devoted to her even when things got tough. I liked that he didn’t freak out at the first sign of trouble when she had one of her PTSD episodes. I liked that he was able to help her through them as well. I can’t wait to read about the other Maxwell brothers stories. I will definitely be reading them when they come out. I highly recommend Dare to Kiss to those who enjoy contemporary sporty romances.

In Dare to Kiss, the first book in the Maxwell Series, by S.B. Alexander, all Lacey Robinson wants to do is play baseball. In order to do that, she needs to make the boys’ baseball team at her new high school. Not only is she dealing with a guy who doesn’t want any girls on his team, but she’s also been suffering from PTSD after finding her mother and sister murdered. On top of all that, Kade Maxwell is making her life a bit more complicated. She never intended to fall for him, but he soon captures her attention and makes her feel something she has never felt before. Will she be able to open up to him about her past? And will she let these obstacles get in the way of her dreams?

What an amazing book! What I loved the most was the main character, Lacey. She is such a tough girl and definitely knows how to take care of herself. One thing that I think gets overdone in books is a man rescuing a damsel in distress. Yes, Lacey has her issues and Kade feels the need to protect her, but at the end of the day, she is her own person with her own goals and aspirations, with or without Kade, which I absolutely love. Then, of course, there’s the romance. And I have to say, S.B. Alexander wrote this perfectly in my opinion. The pace, the blossoming romance, the conflicts, just everything about their relationship from beginning to end was written not only in a realistic way but also in a way that left me wanting more. This was one of those books that I could not put down, and I was so devastatingly disappointed to see it end. However, I was so happy to hear that the next book will be about Lacey and Kade. Not to sound like a fangirl, but I definitely need more Lacey and Kade. Dare to Kiss is a must read and must own for any fans of the new adult genre. If you’re like me, you will admire Lacey and fall in love with Kade. I will be counting down the days until the next book is released.

Obviously being a huge baseball fan myself, I was really excited to read this one! As soon as I read the blurb I knew it had to be mine and I was not disappointed!! Whether you are into sports or not I think that this is still a read for you.
Lacey is a bad ass down to earth lovable girl that suffers from things most of us do! She is a very relatable character and I loved that about her! Kade. Well. He's your typical bad boy that is always attractive right?
This was my first experience with this author and I really enjoyed myself. A slight cliff hanger but it's enough to leave you wanting more!

I was really excited to start reading this book. I love stories that involve strong females that dive head first into a man world, in this case baseball. Lacey has moved to a new town for her senior year at pursue her dream of playing baseball at ASU, and to also move on from a tragedy that shook her life only 9months before. When Lacey meets Kade the sparks begin to fly. It doesn't matter how much physical pain she inflicts on Kade, he keeps coming back. Lacey soon begins to find out that she's not the first female to try out for the baseball team, the last girl however ended up dead.

S.B. Alexander did a great job building up suspense over the course of this book, with regards to what would happen to Lacey if she did make the team. With that said...I was disappointed that the suspense didn't build up to much. I felt that this book in the end just geared me up for the second book in the Maxwell series. While the suspense of finding out what will happen next will force me to read the second book (let's face it I was going to anyways), it made the book just fall flat. I was so excited that with all the suspense, that I thought the book would end in a big BANG...instead it seemed to drift off to sleep. The writing style of this book however was great which did make up for the flat ending.

I look forward to continuing on with the Maxwell series; I can't wait to find out what Greg and Aaron are really up to. I feel like there might be a good bit of drama that will be unfolding.
