I love Nikita Gill's poetry and this collection was no exception. There are so many in this book which spoke to me on a different level. I thoroughly enjoyed the fairytale retellings which I will be adapting to tell my daughter once she is a little older.

There are a number of themes throughout the poems from surviving different situations, growing, healing, loving yourself. All things I needed to hear.

I read this as an ebook and plan on getting it as a physical copy and annotating it.

Poems of love, loss, grief, forgiveness, and self love. Gill builds entire worlds through metaphor leaving you truely feeling your emotions, reflecting on your life, and ultimately walking away feeling empowered.

Thankful for reading challenges that inspire me to read more poetry! These were incredible. I started adding this to my daily journaling time, so now I read at least one poem every day! Gill’s poetry is so approachable, even when it’s discussing major, heavy themes. I’d highly recommend for anyone going through a breakup. That’s a current theme here, but even if you don’t connect on that level at this moment, there is so much goodness in here about self love, knowing your worth, and embracing your powerful inner goddess. There is a lot of strength and resilience to be found here. I definitely plan to read more of her poetry collections in the future.

This collection of poems not only reminds you what it is to be human and rebellious, but also how to love yourself for all of your flaws and parts that others may find 'too much'. 

I would recommend that any female identifying individual reads these poems; their beauty and inspiration deserve to be read by generations to come.

Nikita Gill’s poetry never fails to move me. Her writing is incredibly powerful and the strong feminist themes are inspiring. I have loved all of her collections that I have read so far and am never disappointed.

It is a well-established fact that i have a tumultuous relationship with poetry. Some collections have struck a chord with my so deeply I’ve wept, others have left me completely baffled and unmoved. This book? This book did both, and a little more.

While i loved the re-written fairy tales, recasting the damsels in distress as heroes who fight for themselves, i baulked with distaste at equating womanhood to being in possession of a womb and being able to create life. I am much more than my reproductive system, and my worth and meaning will not be reduced to that alone.

There were far more poems i loved than poems i didn’t in this book. If there had just been a selection that didn’t quite hit my own emotions, I’d have given this book four stars. However, the handful of poems that I actually found disagreeable and crass weigh heavier than the pages they are printed on, and I cannot overlook them.
