I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Like most of us here, I LOVED We were liars, and was hoping for the same. This wasn't the same, but it was still good, just not AS good.
For a start, it was confusing! Mega confusing. One thing I don't like, is when books title each chapter with a date, but you're reading it on the kindle. Suddenly the chapter is titled May 2015 and you have no idea what the last chapter was, and unlike a physical book, it's hard work to go back. Anyway! rant over.. this book started each chapter with a date, BUT it also said 'two weeks before blah blah' etc, so that was great.
Anyway, the book.
The book went backwards, which was a bit trippy. I had NO idea what was going on until I was about 2/5 though, and even then I was unsure. I kinda still am.
But it kept me guessing, made me keen for more and I think thats what makes a god book, that eagerness to turn the next page.
Well worth a read, but not the greatest work by the author.

My thoughts on this book: confused, annoyed and let down. This book did not need to be written in the complicated structure it was. Ruined the story for me as I was trying far too hard to keep up with timelines.
I think this might be the biggest let down of all time. I’m seriously getting angry thinking about how disappointing this book was.
Like most people, I was a big fan of We Were Liars and figured this book would be different, but still have the things I loved about E. Lockhart’s writing. Wrong!
The characters had no depth. It seems like she put the bare minimum into writing them to give them enough personality to complete the story but they’re so fake deep and not realistic at all. I didn’t relate to a single character or even enjoy reading about them.
Don’t even get me started on that wacky timeline. The book opens with the ending and then works its way backwards so you understand what’s happening. Except this made the book so confusing. I completely misunderstood all of the characters and didn’t connect the earlier bits to the parts that came later in the book. Seemed like two different stories!
The book is so short yet I wasted almost a month trying to read it because it was so boring. I thought the ending might justify the lack of clarity throughout the book but it didn’t do that at all! It was supposed to be a big twist but the whole thing was so obvious and not in the slightest bit entertaining. Overall, this was the biggest disappointment and waste of time I have ever experienced while reading a book. I 100% stand by my claim that you shouldn’t read this book.

While I'm giving this three stars, it's definitely a wild ride you'll want go get on.

E. Lockhart back at it again with a bad ass YA story!! It’s got murder, it’s got fraud, it’s got mystery. The reader has to stitch the story together which I am here for. Such a fun easy read that took only a couple moments of my time. To be fair I also only read this book and blew off responsibility because I could not put it down.
okay so this was a rollercoaster. hated it in the beginning but then slowly became hooked!! i’m a sucker for thrillers so this was a perfect quick and easy read!! between we were liars and now genuine fraud, I’ve learned that E. lockhart is wack and we all need to except it!!!
