I must have missed something toward the end because I felt confused at the "twist" for a while.
informative
slow-paced
So I thought I had the ‘twist’ figured out. I was right, but that wasn’t the twist
3.5 stars. I really wanted to give this book 4 stars and may do so after more thought. It was well researched and written. It is based on the Cambridge Five spy ring. My hesitation is my own frustration when a book seems about 50 pages too long. Some sections spent too much time on background. But that’s just me. I enjoyed reading this book very much and learned something new!
Beatriz Williams did it again. A great story, compelling characters, and a tad fantastical, but still set in some kind of historical reality.
So very readable, engaging, loved it.

Terrible. Couldn’t finish around 45%.
This book was impossibly confusing with all the fluff. Too many people at once. Too many dates. Too many details yet nothing made sense. I still had only a vague idea as to what was going on 200+ pages in. It felt like a chore to read. Only my second DNF book ever.

Ruth and Iris are twins that haven't spoken for more than a decade when agent Sumner Fox starts asking Ruth questions about Iris. Iris and her family have defected to Russia but now she is asking for Ruth's help with a difficult pregnancy. Ruth isn't sure what to think but its her sister so she eventually agrees to help. But things are not easy and definitely what they seem. How did Iris end up in Russia and why is she asking for help now? A story of espionage and loyalty and family that keeps you listening to the very end.

I enjoyed this book up until the last 70-100 pages. The ending was so rushed, I had no idea what was going on and nothing made much sense to me. The book itself is almost 450 pages long, so when you’re that far in, the ending should at least explain things clearer.
