A beautifully Twitterne short book. It has elements og trauma, friendship and love and is a coming og age book. It is written om a diary format and troughout tyr book the Malin character slowly starts understanding his pen trauma while dealong whit nes friendships.

How did I miss this book? How is this the first time I’ve read it?! I was doubtful about what value could be gone over in a book so small, and I am so glad that I was wrong. It wasn’t a book that I enjoyed, per say, but how it was able to pack so much punch is why I gave it 5 stars. 

I was drawn in by the journal/letter style of storytelling. The voice of the MC, Charlie, was immature and naive for a high school freshman. It’s the first clue that something isn’t quite right. As the story progresses you hear about him making friends, going to high school parties, trying alcohol and drugs and crushing on a senior and first girlfriends. 

I would say that this is a book for ages 15+ , because of content maturity.

I have read this book about a dozen times and each time my love grows. As I've aged and gained new experiences and perspectives, I get different but equally valuable things out of reading it. I connect so deeply with how Charlie thinks about the world; I rarely feel as close to characters as I do Charlie. Even though very little of my actual life mirrors Charlie's, something about his story hits at something more universal about the human experience and what it is like to be young (unsure and anxious and hopeful and resentful and loving and etc.). Perfection isn't real, but if it was, this would be the perfect coming-of-age novel. I hope I will never stop loving it.
