I don’t think i’ve ever given a book five stars before so i am very hesitant about this but i don’t think four stars would do justice to how this book - and mainly how charlie, the mc - made me feel. i can’t put it into words just yeah. 10/10. i actually laughed out loud every now and then, cried a bit, but mainly spent the whole time smiling gently to myself because i felt like i was reading excerpts of my own diary. i don’t think i’ve ever read a first person narrative i resonated with so much, and yet felt in awe of the way charlie managed to far outdo my internal monologue. so many lines were just so poetic and yet so simple, completely heartbreaking and yet with no large philosophical poetry. the characters and story felt largely genuine, if a *little* too good to be true/larger than life, but only slightly and very rarely.

My favorite book of all time. I always cry at the end, I feel such a strong connection to Charlie.

I think these are the type of characters that stick with me for years. I related too much to Charlie and felt a deep connection. It felt like he was talking to me and I realize that was the purpose because of how they’re written in letters. It was a really beautifully heartbreaking story. I hope that Charlie is in a better place right now and being himself. I hope he has all the love he desires

I just think that it’s a really well done coming of age story for people who dont feel like they got  ‘the teenaged’ experience ig

Reading this as an adult is wildly different from when I read it as a 14 year old. But I appreciate it more now, and I can see how well it was crafted as a story and the character of Charlie himself. It's actually brilliant. But geez it's fucking sad. 10/10 excellent book.
