And in that moment, I swear we were infinite.
messy, smart and perfectly imperfect. The Perks of Being a Wallflower was one of the most real and accurate coming-of-age books i've ever read. it was filled with emotion and lost thoughts, filled with so much that makes a tennager a teenager and yet nicely captured the way charlie was different and unique, a wallflower.
since the book was fast-paced and pretty gripping, i finished it in two days and i was wholly surprised by just how many different topics were mentioned and talked about — some of which include being queer, mental health, suicide, domestic abuse, sexual harassment, rape, young love, not-so-great family relationships. it was insane just how perfectly messy and messily real it felt, because those things happen, they exist.
great book and great idea with the letters and all.
objectively seen, a perfect book. subjectively seen, ... i thought it was a little bit "empty" sometimes. not boring per se, but ... some scenes just felt like they didn't do anything? i dunno.
except for that though, i fully approve.
