I'll devour pretty much anytime by KR but these might make my re-read list, and that's rare. Fun, unique, and well developed characters. The first book MMC was a touch on the overbearing side for me and I think a bit over the top, but the second story was so fantastic it made up for it. Lots of steam. Just the right amount of buildup and anticipation.

If both books had been like the second this would be a5 star read but I rarely rank the pregnancy trope well.

Neither tale dives too deep, but both deliver quick, tension-filled reads packed with spicy drama and compelling chemistry.

I love Katee Robert's Dark Olympus series but I can't say the same for these. There was little plot to invest in with some ok spice. I mostly finished the stories because I can't make myself not finish a book.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Romance for the ARC

Katee Robert is usually a strong go to but this year, like every year, I am quick to DNF books because my TBR is LONG.
When it comes down to it, I hated the FMC AND the narrator of the first book, Make Me Yours. I doubt that I will circle back to this because the narratorโ€™s voice is not going to get less annoying. ๐Ÿซ

An unexpected little treat! This book was like a two for one special and much cozier than many of Katee Robert books Iโ€™ve read previously. The storylines had plenty of sweetness along with some extra spicy parts that kept the momentum going. If pregnancy tropes or brotherโ€™s best friend are your thing, you will love this book! These were quick paced while also providing enough detail to keep your interest. I loved that this featured people of color! I would definitely recommend this to someone looking to dip their toe into spicy romance without going dark.

I would like to thank Katee Robert, the publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advanced copy of this book!

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!!!

Some of the tropes in this one aren't my personal favorite, but it's still a fun and easy read with two stories to get through. Katee Robert is always an insta-read author for me and I'm glad I got to try this out!

Pregnancy scare

This two-for-one combo of novellas by Katee Robert delivers a mix of drama and steamy romance, each with its own unique flavor.

The first novella in Illicit Temptations kicks off with a surprise baby trope following a hot and steamy one-night stand. The chemistry between the FMC and MMC is intense, and the unexpected pregnancy adds a layer of drama as they navigate their unsettled relationship. The emotional stakes are high, but the drama sometimes feels a bit much. Thereโ€™s little growth throughoutโ€”both characters remain stuck in their ways until the typical big argument, leading to the predictable "uh-oh, what did I do?" moment and an eventual realization of love, ending with a happy-ever-after. The epilogue, though, is a nice addition that ties the story together.

In the second novella, we see familiar characters from the first story stepping into the spotlight. Their background is already laid out, so the focus shifts to their evolving dynamics. This novella brings in a mix of the grumpy/sunshine and boss/employee tropes, with an insta-lust vibe driving the characters' attraction. Though I enjoyed this story more than the first, it still felt like a bit of a struggle to get into and stay captivated by.

Katee Robertโ€™s writing style is easy to read, but the modern tone in Illicit Temptations doesnโ€™t hit as hard as in her fantasy novels. The contemporary setting feels less immersive, and while the tone is accessible, it lacks the escapism that makes her fantasy works so engaging. For fans of her fantasy stories, the drama here may feel a little less compelling.

Thank you, Net Galley and Publishers, for letting me read an arc of this book in return for an honest review.
